3R – Science Session

Yesterday we were visited by Mr Squire from Cleeve Secondary school. He brought lots of interesting things with him, including a giant snail, rat skeleton and sheep skull! We learnt about how our skeletons support and protect us, and our muscles help us move.

Mr Squire also dissected a chicken to show us how bones and muscles work – some of us found it a bit tricky to watch! It was a great session, and we learnt a lot.

TTRS Parent’s Guide

We are getting stuck in to our Times Table Rock Stars this term! Here is the link to log on at home: https://play.ttrockstars.com/

And here is a handy guide to explain how it works and how you can help your child use TTRS to become more fluent with their times tables:

Please ask your child’s class teacher if you need help with logging in or any other questions you may have. Enjoy!

3R Castle Homework

The half term homework to research and make a castle was a huge success! We loved seeing all the amazing castle that everyone made, so much time and effort was put into all of them. What a brilliant result!

Here are some of the amazing castles built by 3R:

3R Black History Month project

This afternoon we worked on our final pieces to show everything we’ve learnt this month while celebrating Black History Month. Year 3 focused on sporting heroes from the worlds of football, rugby, boxing and athletics.

We made posters today with all the facts we’ve learnt about our sporting heroes – both old and new. Here are some photos of us in action –

3R Forest School

We have loved doing forest school this term! Lots of fun building dens, digging for treasure and climbing trees. Today we had an extra treat and were able to toast marshmallows on the fire (with Mr Holdaway and Mrs Bennett’s help!) and had smores before heading back to class.

Here are some photos of the fun we’ve been getting up to:

3R Hello Yellow Day

Last Friday was #HelloYellow day! We came to school in our yellow clothes and in the afternoon we made bunting and designed posters to remind ourselves about the importance of looking after our mental health.

We also all enjoyed a trip down to the hall for the cake sale! It was great to get involved and raise money for the charity Young Minds who do such great work with children and young people suffering with mental health issues.

What a great end to a great week!
